Community Service
Thanks to the generous donations from our community, Okaloosa Public Arts has been able to provide contributions throughout Okaloosa County with both art and monetary assistance to local art programs. Special thanks to Ghosh Properties, Mary Esther Bingo, for their recurring donations.
Community Service Activities include:
Okaloosa County Courthouse Extension
OPA placed artwork throughout the building including the “Lady Justice” statue and a contemporary statue outside. A large mural depicting local flora and fauna was created by Elia Saxer, OPA Board Member.
Okaloosa County Administrative Building
OPA hosts a yearly juried art competition featuring outstanding local artists. Work remains in the building for one year and is rotated with the next art competition. Two large murals have been painted on the entry hall walls by Elia Saxer, OPA Board Member.
Northwest Florida Airport
OPA sponsored an art exhibition on the walls at the airport which hung for a year for many visitors and locals to enjoy.
Destin Library
OPA has sponsored multiple exhibitions at the Destin Library.
Northwest Florida State College
OPA sponsored an art exhibition at the Northwest Florida State College Library and in their Visitors Center.
Northwest Florida Ballet
OPA has sponsored multiple juried art exhibitions in the Northwest Florida Ballet’s studio and performing space which were held in conjunction with Ballet performances.
Monetary donations have been provided to:
- The Emerald Coast Science Center in support of their new art equipment
- Arts and Design Society in support of their art programs
- Northwest Florida Ballet Académie in support of their art classes
- The six Okaloosa County High Schools in support of their Art programs
- Northwest Florida State College merit scholarships for Arts Students
